Echobelly (26/3/25)

Taken by Michaela Ainger.

Hello!

I hope you are easing nicely into April as colour begins to fill the ground and skies. There are so many flowers blossoming and we have been gifted in the East of England with warm weather over the past few weeks. I have been incredibly busy and come bearing good news.

I am very excited to let you know that I will be supporting Paul Armfield for a few shows  in May on the UK leg of his ‘Songs for Bibliophiles’ 2025 tour. Alongside Chris Powell on harmonica, of course, we will be joining Paul playing at the wonderful Cafe No.9 in Sheffield on Thursday 15th May & The Holloway in Norwich on Friday 16th May. While on our venture up North, we will be stopping at The Feather Star in Wirksworth, Derby on Wednesday 14th May for a headline show in what looks like the most stunning record shop / venue I have ever laid my eyes on.

I discovered Paul Armfield’s music a couple of months ago and feel truly inspired by an artist with a beautiful back-catalogue showcasing so many years of true, open-hearted artistry - something to really cherish. He’s a real gem and it's a pleasure to be playing these shows with him. We’re incredibly excited for these string of dates and I look forward to meeting new faces on our travels. Spring is well & truly here - come and celebrate with us.

Since my last blog post, I supported the legends that are Echobelly in a sold-out show at The Baths in Ipswich. It was such a great experience and we felt very privileged to be invited to perform. Special thanks to Glenn & Sonya from Echobelly, Gareth & ‘Beardy’ on sound & lighting, as well as Hayley Clapperton and the entire Brighten The Corners team in Ipswich. We were so warmly welcomed by these guys & look forward to returning one day.

I’ve included some photos from the event in this blog post which you can browse through below. All taken by the incredibly talented Michaela Ainger. Thank you Michaela. I’ve copied a link to her instagram below.

In the next month, I will be publishing a live mailing list which you can subscribe to - meaning any important updates, tours and news will be forwarded straight to your inbox. More on that later !

It has been a productive & beautiful couple of months & we look forward to what is to come. In the meantime, Chris & I will be heading to a studio in Suffolk to begin recording some music. Tickets for our gigs in May are now live. We can’t wait to get on the road again. Exciting times.

Take care,

Watkin. X
