Thank You / ‘Cocain’ Live in Session

On Tuesday 25th February at 9:30pm, Chris Powell & myself performed at The Bedford in Balham, South London. As we walked off stage that night, I was overtaken with the realisation that we had completed our first rodeo of live gigs & our Winter Tour has now come to an end.

I want to say Thank You to everybody who has come to see us on this brief excursion of ours. It has been really special - soaked in gratitude & laughter. The Bicycle Shop, The John Peel Centre, The Merchants House & The Bedford - each with an enticing charm which left me feeling only more inspired leaving their front-doors as when I’d walked in. We were warmly welcomed and taken care of by everybody involved, especially those quiet heroes of the music industry who engineer the shows & make everything sound so good. My extended gratitude & thanks to Simon Poore, Curtis Blanc, Peter Turrell & Richard Hunt.

Thank you to the Cambridge illustrator, Miss Delphi Brown for creating the most amazing lyric prints which have been for sale on this tour. They are now sold out however I intend to print some more for any further upcoming dates. Delphi also designed the lovely tour poster which was plastered over barber shop walls and cafe doors in Norwich.

Reflecting on our final tour date, Mr Dylan Rees-Coshan wrote a small piece about our performance at The Bedford, having watched us play. I posted the write up in an earlier blog post which can also be found on this website (blog 2/linked below).

We have one more show to play this month. On Wednesday 26th March, I’ll be joined by Mr Chris Powell supporting the wonderful Echobelly in a sold out show at The Baths, Ipswich. I very much look forward to it! After that, I’ll be hibernating for some time as I welcome the long-awaited Spring back into my mind and garden. Keep an ear out as there is a lot more planned this year & we’ll be back on the road soon enough. You can keep up to date by following on Instagram, Youtube & Facebook (linked below) or following on Bandcamp.

And one more thing, to celebrate the end of our very first tour, I’ve released our version of the traditional song, ‘Cocain’ to Youtube. Inspired by the John Martyn version from his album ‘London Conversations’, I’m incredibly excited to share a performance Chris & I played back in December 2024 at The Boathouse Studio, Suffolk. Engineered & Filmed by Adam Bowers. I will copy a link to the video below. I hope you enjoy it.

There are so many beautiful & exciting things that lie ahead. Take care,

Watkin X
